welcome to hogwarts
hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry. heard of it? if not, get out from under that rock right now. this scottish castle was once home to voldemort, the boy who lived, albus dumbledore and countless other amazing witches and wizards. and now, if you choose to accept a place, it will be your home too. but be warned, it might not be quite what you're expecting. you're imagining wizards and witches with feathered quills, long black robes and pointed hats, copying curling script from dusty old hardbacks onto rolls of parchment, aren't you? yeah, don't.
things aren't like that anymore. the year is 2009, and muggles are the newest trend. we love their clothes, their technology, everything. the school had to either allow muggle things or expel every single one of us. now we write with parchment and quills in rooms lit by candlelight, all the while listening to our ipods and wondering whether anyone's commented on our myspace profile yet. the professors are doing everything they can to keep the hogwarts traditions alive, but the students just don't care anymore. and as we move closer to the muggles, we're starting to feel more and more like them.
strange things have been going on in the muggle world. sightings of things that don't exist, people doing things they shouldn't be able to. more than a few newspapers have reported people doing what looked like flying on broomsticks. but that can't be possible, right? the muggles have rested on that for so long, but now their beliefs are starting to be challenged. is there anyone else out there? they're starting to suspect that there might be.
but the worst thing is, no-one seems to care.
